by AnonymousThis is an amazing copy of the Qur'an. It reads like poetry, the author is attempting to capture the beauty of the Qur'an in English, though the English is impure.
The Qur'an is meant to be read in Arabic, so this would be an acceptable Qur'an for a person who is a native English speaker learning Arabic.
It is important to remember, though, that Yusuf Ali had many religious and racial biases, and these were written into his interpretation of the Arabic text.
This translation was chosen over many other choices by my professor Dr. H. Talat Halman, teaching Islam.
Islam is a beautiful religion. I suggest reading the Qur'an alongside No god but God: The OriginsEvolutionand Future of Islam and Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet.
